How to Register for a CRA My Account
As you are aware on March 18, 2020, the government announced measures to provide support to individuals due to COVID19 and job loss. For many, EI benefits exist but there are individuals that are not eligible for EI and are still impacted by COVID19 in such a way that they cannot work.
As of March 25, 2020, the government announced a new program to provide faster access to cash for individuals impacted by the virus. This new program as indicated in the attached document will require an application process. To obtain details of the application, you should have a CRA My Account. Below details how to obtain one if you do not already have one.
Before you start you will need to have with you:
your social insurance number;
your date of birth;
your current postal code and;
an amount you entered on your income tax and benefit return, so have your copy on hand (the line requested will vary and it could be from either the current tax year or the previous one).
